Berhampur, a 22-year-old woman, and her lover, 25-year-old Shankarsana Gouda, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly stabbing her husband to death earlier this month. The incident took place at Bomkai village under K Nuagaon police station limits in Ganjam district. The accused were identified as Asmita Dakua and Shankarsana Gouda, both of whom hail from Khamarigaon village. The duo murdered Krushna Chandra, the husband, on December 19. They put his body in a sack and then dumped his body around 50km away in a drain near Lanja under R Udayagiri police station limits in neighbouring Gajapati district. On December 20, Asmita lodged a missing complaint and during investigation police found blood stains at her home. Police also had its suspicions on Shankarshan who came to her house frequently and decided to question him along with Asmita. “During interrogation both of them confessed to killing Krushna,” Mrutunjay Swain, Inspector-in-Charge of Knuagaon police station, said.
