Everyone is awaiting the release of Rajinikanth–Akshay Kumar starrer, 2.0, with bated breath, but unfortunately we have some disappointing news. If recent reports are to be believed, the film may now be released next year, ie January 2018.
The film that was to release during Diwali this year, has been postponed to the following year reportedly due to the extensive VFX that will require a lot of time to get incorporated. However, DNA quoted an insider as saying that the makers have planned an interesting marketing strategy for the futuristic film that should offset the disappointment caused due to the delay.
Instead of the movie release, the team is now expected to reveal the look of the film by unveiling the first teaser promo on Diwali. Apparently both, Rajinikanth and Akshay, want to make up for the delay of the film and gift this to their fans.
This will soon be followed with the release of the trailer. A source close to the development of the movie was quoted by DNA as saying, “The trailer will be launched amid huge fanfare on Rajinikanth’s birthday (December 12). Rajini is worshipped down South and his films are celebrated like festivals. That’s why director Shankar wants to give all Thalaiva’s fans a gift.”
Written and directed by S. Shankar, co-written by B. Jeyamohan and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, founder of Lyca Productions, 2.0 is expected to be an Indian science fiction film. It is a sequel to the 2010 Tamil film Enthiran and will feature Rajinikanth essaying the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The movie will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
