Mumbai: The disciplinary committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Saturday, banned five players accused of fixing in a sting operation during this year’s Indian Premier League.
The three-member committee consisting of BCCI chairman N Srinivasan and board vice-presidents Arun Jaitley and Niranjan Shah went through the reports submitted by BCCI’s anti-corruption wing.
While TP Sudhindra (Also read) has been banned for life, Shalabh Srivastava has been banned from playing for a period of five years. The other three – Mohnish Mishra and Amit Yadav and Abhinav Bali – have been handed a year’s ban each.
While Mishra had issued a written apology days after the sting operation was aired saying that he had ‘done it casually to increase his value,’ Srivastava had claimed innocence.
