Fishermen’s families turn bat protectors on Hirakud island

Seven families of the fishermen community living on an island in the Hirakud reservoir in Bargarh district have been protectors of lakhs of fruit bats for more than five decades.The area called bat island is about 5 km from the shore of Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary.
